The purpose of this paper is to study the land consolidation mode of rural residential area in Poyang County of Jiangxi Province, which is based on the location conditions, and methods of GIS space analysis, multi-factors comprehensive evaluation method and frequency histogram method, by the provide reference for the planning and arrangement of rural residential areas, the development of urban and rural areas and the construction of new rural areas. The results show that the location conditions of the south Poyang County is better than that in the north, and the number of patches and the area of rural residents are decreased with the decrease of the evaluated grade. According to the rural residential location evaluation results and local practice, Poyang county rural residential consolidation model is divided into 5 kinds: urbanization development mode, reform and development mode, internal mining potential mode, moved and merged mode, and overall migration mode.
