Spatio-temporal Evolution and Driver Detection of Rural Resilience in Western China

Abstract

Taking 12 western provinces as the research object, starting from the population toughness, economic toughness, social toughness, resource toughness and environmental toughness to build rural toughness evaluation index system, through the integrated use of entropy method, nuclear density estimation, global spatial autocorrelation index and geographical detector, the paper try to explore the rural resilience’s time and space evolution characteristics and its driving factor. The results show that: (1) Rural resilience is fluctuating and improving, but the overall level is still low. (2) The spatial differences in rural resilience are significant, and the spatial agglomeration effect is increasing. Tibet and Qinghai have been low resilient, Xinjiang, Guizhou and Inner Mongolia are mainly moderate and high resilience, and Guangxi and Chongqing were highly resilient. (3) Rural resilience is driven by the interaction of multiple factors, such as economic drivers, government regulation drivers, information drivers and population drivers.
