Abstract

This paper takes 60 suburban subway stations in Shanghai city as examples to analyze the spatial economic effects of suburban metro stations on the surrounding areas. The article applies nighttime lighting data combined with RDD method to analyze it. The research results show that the opening of subway stations has a significant economic impact on the surrounding areas and this effect characterizes by clearly distance decay. The opening of the subway can make the light brightness within the radius of 1 200 m area of its station to get a significant increase, but there is no significant treatment effect for the area outside this distance range. This spatial economic effect also has obvious heterogeneity for the subway stations at moderate distances to the city center, there is a significant treatment effect for the opening of the subway station, while the other groups do not exist.

Key words
